Hayhurst Midcentury

Location: Portland, Oregon

This project was a whole house remodel and addition to a 1950’s ranch house. The existing house had a small, isolated kitchen, awkward dining and living rooms, and no master suite.

To remedy the problems, a small bedroom and adjacent hallway were removed to create a large, open kitchen and dining area. The living room was connected to the backyard via a new French door and stair, and a small addition was added to the house to create a master suite. Finally, the remainder of the spaces were revised and updated with a common palette of finishes.

The kitchen features a large island that separates the working area from the seating area. The walls of the kitchen and dining room are lined with floor to ceiling custom cabinetry that visually ties the entire space together. The master bathroom features double sinks, a separate toilet room, and a large walk-in shower and tub room.

Finishes include: oak flooring, rift white oak cabinetry, quartz countertops, porcelain tile, limestone slab, and brushed nickel accessories.
