craig-lee house

Location: Portland, Oregon

This project involved the addition of a ‘pop-up’ dormer on an existing 100 year-old house. The existing roof pitch was too shallow to accommodate a traditional shed dormer; plus, the house was built over the side set back lines – forcing the new addition to be set back from the existing side walls of the house. The new addition mimics the detailing of the original house so that ‘it looks as if it’s always been there.’

The increased floor area at the second floor is large enough to house a full sized family room as well as a master suite complete with a walk-in closet and a full bathroom. A new stair was built in the entry hall – improving circulation to the second floor and creating a focal point in the entry hall.
