christie kitchen
Location: Portland, Oregon
This project involved the gut renovation of an existing kitchen. The existing kitchen was large but awkwardly arranged. A dividing wall was constructed to create a new mudroom accessible from the back yard. This also gave the new kitchen better proportions. An island was created in the middle of the space – yielding more prep area as well as a place for seating.
The original fir floors were recovered (under two layers of asbestos flooring) and refinished. Door and window casings are original natural fir. The new cabinets are clear vertical grain fir and feature pure white solid surface countertops. Cabinet hardware is brushed aluminum.
